The official NHS Scotland COVID Check app is a secure way to verify an individual’s COVID status. Use the app to check that they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, had a negative test, or have recovered from COVID-19.
For domestic use in Scotland, it can be used to confirm that an individual has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 – confirmation of negative test and/or recovery is only for international travel purposes.
You can use the app to scan a 2D barcode (QR code) and display the data held within an individual’s NHS COVID Status app or from their printed letter. It does not store or transmit any personal data during this process.
The app helps venue staff to verify if an individual using their service, attending their event or visiting their premises is vaccinated from COVID-19.
The protection of user privacy is central to the NHS Scotland COVID Check app.
Its purpose is to display COVID status information in a clear and readable way with every scan, without allowing for any personal data to be retained.
Using the app is simple. It works in offline and online mode, both with or without Wi-Fi (although it will need to connect to the internet every so often). Download the app and you can get started with scanning customers' 2D barcodes, commonly known as QR codes. Once you have scanned their QR code the app will tell you their COVID status.More about using the app
By using the NHS Scotland COVID Check app, alongside existing public health and contact tracing measures, you can help to stop the spread of the virus in Scotland.
